We are thrilled that the organisers of London Tech Week have chosen to spotlight local start-up heroes, pioneers & innovators in Hammersmith & Fulham’s thriving ecosystem as part of LTW’s Borough Day! This year, Upstream is partnering with the *Deep Tech Network to showcase a selection of Hammersmith & Fulham’s most innovative organisations who are making an impact in the world within deep tech and beyond.
We’re convening leading minds to celebrate and showcase the groundbreaking innovations from startups, academia & industry, who are using technology and science to solve the global challenges that face our planet. Join us for a series of inspirational, punchy speeches, followed by live q&a.
We will be using Zoom for this event. Details on how to register will appear in your order confirmation and joining instructions will be sent nearer the date.
This showcase is for tech, science or engineering businesses, academics or startups working to improve our world and those who want to learn more about H&F’s thriving tech and life-sciences ecosystem.

Rebecca Alade (Gamma Delta) – Rebecca is Senior Scientist and team lead at Gamma Delta Therapeutics, which harnesses the unique properties of gamma delta T cells (part of the immune system) to treat cancer in a more targeted and effective way. They focus on treating haematological malignancies (e.g. acute myeloid leukaemia) and solid tumours (e.g. melanoma and breast cancer). Rebecca’s experience includes time at Freeline and UCL. She studied Biochemistry and then Translational cancer medicine at King’s College London.
Hilary Aylesworth (Arbor Education) – Hilary is Head of Product at Arbor Education, the fastest-growing Management Information System (MIS) today. Arbor’s mission is to ensure schools and MATs work more collaboratively using the right tools and technology to improve the lives of teachers and outcomes of students everywhere. Hilary is an experienced educationalist with a track record of developing and scaling successful programs and technology products. Her background includes time at Teach First and the NYC Department of Education. She holds a PhD from Columbia University.
Professor Anthony Bull (Imperial College London) – Prof. Bull is the Head of Department of Bioengineering at Imperial College London which is leading research in biomedical (devices and interventions for human health) and biological (solving life sciences problems to improve health) engineering as well as biomimetics (designing materials and machines based on structures and functions of living things). Prof. Bull’s own research is focused on the basic mechanics of joints and the application of this knowledge and technologies developed to the diagnosis and treatment of pathologies and performance parameters. These are applied to Sport Biomechanics, Injury Biomechanics (focusing on Blast), and the Biomechanics of Ageing including Osteoarthritis.
Aingaran Pillai (Zaizi) – Aingaran is CEO and Founder of Zaizi, an award-winning global open source consultancy. Zaizi implements the technologies and platforms needed to help government bodies become high performing, data-driven organisations. Zaizi specialises in digital process automation and open source and cloud technologies, providing solutions to help improve digital performance. Aingaran has twenty-years experience in the tech industry and graduated from Imperial College London, where he studied software engineering.
Georgina Owens (Liberis) – Georgina Owens is CTO of Liberis, a leading global provider of embedded business finance which has delivered more than £500 million in funding to SMEs across the UK, EU and US, making it easier for small growing businesses to access finance. Georgina has held senior technology leadership and transformation roles and her experience includes time at startups and household names including DAZN, Vodafone and WPP. She has been recognised as the UK’s Top 50 Most Influential Women in Tech 2020 and 2021.
Cylon – CyLon’s mission is to support the cyber security startups and entrepreneurs building the secure foundations of our future digital economy. Since their launch in 2015, they have achieved this through a range of core initiatives across Europe, Asia and the Middle East, supporting 100+ startups, now collectively valued at >$1bn, and 200+ entrepreneurs from 35+ countries around the world. Hear from Wonsuk Tae, CEO of Cosmetheus – a Seoul-based marketing tech start-up who is participating in the CyLon Spark | South Korea programme!
*The Deep Tech Network is organised between Upstream and Imperial’s Department of Chemistry and Enterprise Division with the intention of encouraging interaction and collaboration between business and Imperial’s researchers, and developing a deep-tech innovation ecosystem around Imperial’s White City Campus.
