Case study 4: Creating a specialist community for businesses, academics & investors in deep tech
The DTN is a network of deep tech businesses, created by Upstream and Imperial College’s Enterprise and Chemistry departments. Its regular showcase talks and networking events bring together a thriving and engaged community, reflecting White City’s increasing reputation for deep tech. Before the pandemic, its short-notice networking events were bringing together nearly 100 attendees from across London and as far afield as Oxford and Cambridge. Since going virtual, attendees have dialled in from the EU, Asia and across the UK. DTN typically showcases three to five deep tech start-ups each time it meets, with presentations followed by structured networking.
Testimonial: “The Deep Tech Network gave us a fantastic opportunity to raise Teknobuilt’s profile and spotlight our innovations in front of an audience of fellow innovators, academics and investors. Team Upstream have always been forthcoming with advice and support, particularly when we have faced challenges. If I ever need local knowledge or fast results they are my go-to contact.” – Abhishek Srivastava, Executive Director, Teknobuilt
